Here is a look at 5 players, 1 at each position who are worth a gamble by teams looking to find a developmental piece or cheap pieces for contending teams with Cap problems and little to no depth, Enjoy!
Uto is the perfect complimentary PG in FA. The kid has an above avg Inside game for the position, with a fringgy A- Outside game and Elite level handles and passing. His lack of Defense (mediocre at B-) pushes him into backup status but Age and untapped potential gives this young man a chance to develop into something else. Godfather projects a 4yr contract at an AAV of $6mil for this young player.
Harper is a low key high energy SG. He is not much of an offensive force but with proper Coaching and a lucky TC a C+ B Inside/Outside game is possible. However Harpers true value is very much as a field general and defensive 1st SG/PG combo guard. He is very much SGA like, and a lucky GM will be getting a perfect bench player that would excel in any system as a 1-2 backup. Harper is a legit Slam Dunk Champion contender and has one of the best Handles/Defense combo packages of any player on file. He represents great value in this FA Class. Godfather projects 3yrs at $4mil AAV for this lad
McKie The former #6 Overall pick hasn't been given enough developmental love or a chance to prove his skills thus far. Only 21 and with untapped potential he offers both Hope and dreams for a lucky GM that get this chunck of Charcoal.. Is he a Diamond in rough form? ?? Time will tell, but his Inside game is again solid for the position and his outside game is so close to being a B it could easily go +2 in a lucky TC, ditto his defense. A solid gamble on the young lad. Godfather predicts a 2 yr minimum contract that could bear huge dividens
Here is a tremendous value at PF. Roe has an advanced Inside game and while his outside game is just there for show, the man will not be a liability at the Freethrow line. An under-utilized Big throughout his career, his career highs suggest an upside play on a cheap 10 ppg/ 10 rpg 1.5+ Bpg type 6th. A tanking team or a team with 3 solid Bigs in front of him could take a flyer on this guy. Something tells me he could end up on a team in the East. Godfather projects a 4 year (Upside value Gamble) MLE on this young man
McGill has been definetely more exposed and used vs the rest of these youths and looks the part of a role player 6th man for a solid team and fringe starter for a "growing team". McGill still developing his game but in a Starter role 12/9/ 2 BPG with solid %' s are numbers doable by this young man. He provided a spark off the bench for GSW with his high energy and balanced approach. McGill will be the most expensive piece out of these 5 and it wouldn't surprise me if we see a 4yr $10mil per AAV type deal for the young Free Agent
