At the start of the 2025-2026 season there were rumors that there was growing discontent between GM Snypes and the Owner of the Chicago Bulls. Since the inception of the legendary BSL in 2006 the Chicago Bulls have only made the playoffs 7 times, lost around 60% of their playoff games and have never once reached the Finals. During this time there have been new generations of talent, multiple players inducted into the Henry Memorial National Basketball Hall of Fame and 12 different championship teams. Near the end of the season the tensions came to an all time high after the team lost their last 9 out of the last 10 games, after continued promises from GM Snypes that the team would improve for 19 seasons, the owner made the difficult decision to terminate him. After a short interview process, Dave Mang was selected to bring Chicago into a new era of basketball.
Dave Mang has not been part of an organization for many years but has many accolades that center around winning basketball. He was involved in leading multiple CSSNBL champions but the league folded under suspicious circumstances. Almost every season his team was in the playoffs but his teams had varying results as he was very demanding of his players. Being the GM and Coach he was very hands on, ruining relationships with players, coaches and GM's. As expected the Chicago Bulls have hired a new coach in Mike Dunleavy.
Mike Dunleavy has been coaching for 20 years in the BSL and brings great leadership to the organization. His strength is developing young talent and crafting a offensive plan centered around a plethora of shooters that can also defend. The signings and transactions below reflect Dave and Coach Dunleavy are working in tandem now and hopefully in the future.
Blockbuster trade of sending Domantas Sabonis to San Antonio with multiple first round picks for Jaren Jackson Jr. Jaren is one of the best 3 point shooting PF's in the league, shooting 42% from the arc last year while also being a staunch defender. He averaged 16.3 PPG and 11.4RPG while not being one of the main options in San Antonio. In Chicago he is projected to be a focal point of the offense.
Trading Doug McDermott and cash considerations for Jalen Williams. Jalen was the 6th overall pick in 2020 and is widely considered a bust around the league. While not performing up to expectations, he has developed into a solid 3 and D wing shooting 45% from the 3 point line last season.
Isaiah Stewart signing a 4 year extension with the team. Isaiah has been a consummate professional through losing basketball, becoming a fan favorite. Chicago knew that they could not let Isaiah test free agency and signed him to a very team friendly 4 year deal valued at 20M as soon as possible. Isaiah projects to be Chicago's starting center throughout his contract.
Brandin Podziemski signing a 4 year contract in Free Agency. Considered around the league one of the biggest headscratchers, this kid just hasn't been able to put it together in the BSL. He has all the talent needed on the offensive and defensive end. Coach Dunleavy is expected to spend extra time with Brandin to develop him into a elite 3 and D player.
Tidjane Salaun signing a 4 year contract in Free Agency. In Miami Tidjane did not receive any playing time and he is not expected to receive any of it anytime soon in Chicago either. He is considered a development project that hopefully evolves into a valued contributor by the end of his contract.
Brandon Knight signing a 2 year contract in Free Agency. A 15 year veteran in the BSL, he has proven to be a good passer that gets a little too careless with the ball sometimes. Being able to work hand in hand with BSL legend Donald Sloan will hopefully help correct any flaws in his game. Even with the negatives, Brandon shot 46% from the arc last season.
In a shocking sequence of events the Minnesota Timberwolves waived Derrick Williams who was Sixth Man of the Year last year and the Chicago Bulls claimed him. Being able to claim him for no cost to the organization is being called a major win for the team around the league.
Claiming Mitchell Creek off waivers. As a 12 year veteran in the league he has shown that he can shoot the 3 ball while also defending. Projects to be at the back end of the rotation.
Claiming TJ McConnell off waivers. As a team that has been doing alot of losing Chicago felt like they needed to bring in a winner and that is what TJ McConnell is. A 12 year veteran in the BSL, he has been the backup to the 4 time reigning MVP Lonzo Ball on the Houston Rockets. Houston has been one of the best franchises in the league since TJ joined them and they should consider it an honor that he will likely be playing his final years in Chicago. As the Chicago front office has been quiet the past few days this is expected to be the final piece of the puzzle on the roster. Will Chicago continue to be a loser franchise or will these new acquisitions rise them from the pits of the league into a destination free agents will want to go to and fans will not be ashamed to root for?
