Editor's Note: mmmm my formatting could have been better here, but oh well.
Superstar Tier: 5 best players in the league and the 5 best assets overall. Ayton is a new inclusion as he continues his glo-up, and KAT takes over the number 1 slot by a WIDE margin. With his age and the gap between him and Ayton, I have a really hard time seeing anyone replace KAT at the top of this list for quite awhile. The league is his now.
Pseudo-Superstar tier: Tatum and Herro are on the verge of breaking out and could threaten to move into the top group soon. I left Marko out just because I don't think he has ever been quite in the Kyrie / Steph / Kemba level of player despite being the reigning finals MVP and with all the help from Fr*nk. AD never quite got to the top 5 either, and Embiid goes down a couple of spots, although he remains a monster.
Star tier: I definitely am willing to hear arguments on Jokic, Ant, and RJ being higher than this since it is an asset tier list, but I'm kind of learning a lesson from Fox here that you don't necessarily want to bet anything on TCs, because you never know who might just stall out. Ant, RJ, and Fox all need to produce to work their way up the list. Jokic ratings don't necessarily quite stack up to some other bigs, but his age and production speak for itself at this point.
"I'm going to get flamed for this" tier: Okay hear me out on Josh Giddey. C+ B- B C+ with 100 pot is NOT even that raw. The worry would be about quickness and about handle and if that holds him back, but as of right now I think he at worst projects to be a ratings monster. Speaking of ratings monsters, I need to see more from Luka. 5 TOPG isn't going to cut it. And Zion is just a filthy prospect, he looks like he could be really good moving forward. Wiggins B+ B+ with A- defense looks killer too, just need him to show out on the court and he could easily climb higher as one of the better two way guys we have in the BSL
Spec / Aging Star tier: Maxey, Rob, Wendell, Eason all look like they have extremely high upsides. Dame and Harrellson are still nasty but are getting up there in years. Buddy is legit but he's about to get a massive bag in the offseason and it might be tough to stomach if he is only playing one side of the ball. And Vonleh is just reliable. Not super special in anyway, but a reliable big going into their prime that the Spurs can and have won with.
Bullets tier: I just don't know what to do with Josh's guys anymore. Ratings look great but at some point I need to see some production, especially if he is going to consider selling soon. Angelo just drops because of age and contract, although he is still nasty. And Jamal needs opportunity. I want to put him higher, but he needs love.
Barely snuck in tier: Mobley and Deni are progressing nicely. Oden gets in after missing last year because of the cheaper salary. Monroe gets in just because he is flat out good. A lot of guys who missed could be argued in the same tier as these guys and some others, but it's a hard list to make and this is what I came up with. Gave a lot more weight to youth and trade value this year than in the past.
