We had 20 participants in the survey this year

Five best players in the sim if you have to win a title this season?

HM. Grant Hill
5. Terrell Brandon
4. Hakeem Olajuwon
3. Scottie Pippen
2. David Robinson
1. Shaquille O'Neal

Analysis: FBB is usually all about guard play, but we find early on in this iteration big men are getting most of the love. Three of the top four are centers, and Honorable Mention Grant Hill has yet to take a three pointer as a small forward. I was surprised to see Scottie Pippen not make it in the top 5 on 4 of the responses.

Five most valuable players in the sim if you factor in age, contract, and current skillset

HM. Kevin Garnett
5. Allen Iverson
4. Vince Carter
3. Tim Duncan
2. Shaquille O'Neal
1. Kobe Bryant

Analysis: The 1996 draft continues to look like the most OP draft class we have ever seen in BSL. We see 4 rookies in the top 5. Shaq is the only original file player in the top 5, and it'll be interesting to see how long it takes for all original file guys to be phased out of these rankings.

Three teams best set up for long term success (Title contention in 3-5 years)

HM. Cleveland, Utah
3. Boston Celtics
2. Miami Heat
1. Orlando Magic

Analysis: The East sucks right now, but according to the league poll they have 3 best teams set up for success down the road. Orlanda had the most votes with 18, Miami only had 11. Some surprising responses were Seattle, Portland, and Denver (x2). All of those teams have older cores, my guess is some of you all didn't read the question.

Three teams best set up for immediate success (Title contenders the next 1-2 years)

HM. Seattle SuperSonics
3. Cleveland Cavaliers
2. Denver Nuggets
1. Orlando Magic

Analysis: Orlando is easily in the best position among all teams in the league. Denver should be feeling the pressure coming in at 2nd in the poll, but are currently 5th in the West. JB has done a great job in Cleveland so far, currently sitting at the top of the East with a 26-4 record.

Most overrated player in the league?

HM. Penny Hardaway, Jason Kidd, Latrell Sprewell (all 2 votes)
1. Shawn Kemp (3 votes)

Most underrated player in the league?

1b. Kevin Garnett (2 votes)
1a. Terrell Brandon (2 votes)

What team / gm has done the BEST job so far this iteration given their circumstances: (why)

HM. Cleveland Cavaliers (JB)

Cavaliers - they’ve built a solid team around Brandon. He simply chose the Cavs due to them being his favorite team rather than just a dope team.
2. Orlando Magic (Cloud)

Cloud. Grabbed hill to go along with shaq and penny, he’ll be contending for a long ass time
Cloud: Getting Grant Hill for a bunch of late 1sts and Dale Davis for a swap sets him up really well with Shaq and Penny locked up long term. The Magic were a great starting franchise, but they are almost guaranteed to be contenders for 5-7 years.
1. Miami Heat (gopher)

Gopher, The Heat went from mediocre to having 3 of the top assets in the league assuming they get a top 5 pick this year
Gonna go with Gopher. Heat look like a potential powerhouse with Kobe and PP and possibly one more high pick coming next draft.
Gopher, the Heat weren't a great situation to begin with and now they have two of the most valuable players in the league.
What team / gm has "fumbled the bag" and set their franchise back the worst in just 1.2 short seasons? (why)

2b. Detroit Pistons (FortsonBass)

Pistons could have easily built around Hill. Instead traded him away for the least valuable picks in the league (Cloud futures)
Pistons - didn’t think trading out of this draft made sense. Highly doubt we see a draft close to this level again.
2a. Dallas Mavericks (Frank)

Frank: Honestly I don't feel like anyone has fumbled the bag that badly, but the Webber trade looks pretty bad so far. Regardless, the Mavs are in the playoffs so it's not that big of a deal.
Frank / Mavericks..... Webber and Kidd duo is legitimately horrible and they harvested the entire future to do it
1. Denver Nuggets (Henny)

Hank — Traded a ton of assets and doesn’t really have any stars to show for it. Started with Mutombo and that’s still far and away his best player. Team is older. They play in the west which is weak at the top, but the only reason they’re going to be “competing” for a ship over the next 2-3 seasons is because it’ll be easier to get out of the west. And then they’ll get smacked in the finals and be without picks.
Henry. Traded every asset he had for a mediocre trash an team
Should franchises be punished for excessive tanking?

Yes - 10
No - 10
