Background:
The Bucks were a ship without a captain the last few seasons, and Kidd went down with all the crew members. Coming off another middling season, it's hard to gauge Kidd's inherent value. On one side, we're talking about a 3x All-Star and 3x All-League selection, but on the other he hasn't done anything since 2032.
Kidd is now 28 years old, and will enter free agency at the ripe age at 29. This is important because if the Bucks choose to offer a 5 year contract, the last few years of that deal might be as ugly as Kidd's shooting efficiency. There is no question Kidd is a + player, but figuring out his value is one of the toughest things I've done since joining this league. You look around the league at certain team's rosters, cap situations, and GM activity and I only see a few fits besides the Bucks that fit the bill...
Miami:
The Heat and cap space are synonymous, and the Heat project to have a lot of it this upcoming free agency. I see them as the most likely team to throw the full 4 year max at Kidd and not be concerned with the results. Brad's strategy has been to add talent and worry about the fit later, and this fits in with that. I'm not sure if Ivanovic can play the SG position but Brad might as well try it. This could also be a case where a team without cap space urges Brad to sign Kidd and workout a sign and trade, but I'd have to imagine that'd be a tricky proposal on both ends.

Lakers:
Curry walked into a situation that no GM would want to entertain. He has no picks, no noteworthy talent, and loses basically every game. The Heat and the Lakers have one thing in common, they need talent. I see the Lakers throwing the full 4 year max and worrying about everything else later. I mean, why not? Perhaps even a contender views Kidd to get them over the top, and even then what talent goes back in that scenario? In the end, Curry has to offer him the max.

I want to take a moment to recognize Notail for winning last season's championship, what an accomplishment...
Having said that, the Jazz have a ton of potential cap space this summer. I am unsure how they view Kidd vs. De Jong but it is a very interesting question. Kidd is currently a year younger, and that could influence Notail's thinking. He could also choose to split the cap and use that across his roster but he's not been opposed to to swinging for the fences before. I like to think the Jazz are the dark horse here, and they would get the most out of Kidd. Kidd might see how Barrett fared in the mountains of Salt Lake City and take his chances. This one is an unknown all-around...

It appears that Scott got tired of rebuilding and put on his big boy GM pants when he acquired Hondo. The next step would be to use all that cap space he'll this upcoming FA and take a shot at Kidd. He fits their timeline, younger guards can learn behind him, and he'd pair well with Hondo. The only reason I have their chances so low is because I am unsure how Scott views their future PG’s. If he thinks Kidd will affect his timeline too adversely, he won't even entertain the idea. The Nets (like the Jazz), are an interesting dark horse and Kidd would propel them into the playoff picture. What will Scott do?
