- TAKES EFFECT IN OFF-SEASON BEFORE 2029-30 SEASON
- Before Sim 1 of each season, teams will need to register their team as "tanking" for that season.
- Teams registered as tanking will have to pay to cut players with GM cash at 3x their annual salary, up to $20M annually. These numbers can be rounded down to the nearest even $M
- EXAMPLES
- Cutting a player in his final year making less than $6,666,666 will cost three times their salary in GM cash to cut. (Salary * 3 = $ in GM cash)
- Cutting a player in his final year making more than $6,666,666 will cost $20M in GM cash.
- Multi-year deals will need to undergo payouts for each year remaining on the player’s contract
- EXAMPLES
- Teams that register to tank will be on the hook to pay these fines for cut players going back to the beginning of the off-season.
- Teams may ask to be granted an exception if the player being cut is deemed to be a non-factor. This can be granted in cases of facilitating a trade due to roster spaces as well.
- Teams that are registered as tanking may still do cutbacks at no charge unless those cutbacks are with another tanking team in a clear attempt to circumvent the rules.
- Teams that are not registered as tanking that do not make the playoffs will automatically be given 60 lottery balls regardless of their finishing record.
- Teams registered as tanking must have 3 players that are eligible to play center.
