1- How long have you been doing Sim?
I’ve been doing sims since I was in 8th grade; so since about 2007/2008. I started on a forum called ProSportsAddicts. It was one of the most aesthetic and active sports forums I have ever been a part of. I was too young to understand all the drama that can occur behind the scenes of a sports forum (admin abuse/costs/etc.). All I know is that site fell apart like, overnight. From there I just bounced around random FBB leagues. Between PSA and BSL I ran a few FBB leagues of my own. I was a young kid with loads of free time and a fascination for basketball. FBB leagues really helped me kill time during my adolescence.
2- How do you feel your team is set up for this year? Future?
For this year: we’re chillin. I’m super happy that I landed Bradley Beal. I feel that he still has at least 3 more very, very solid seasons left in him after this one ends. I hope to collect assets in this offseason, and the next offseason. I expect a finals run during Beals expiring year. I don’t have the assets to build a franchise but I’ve got the assets to win some games here for a few seasons. This team was so dreadfully barren when I took over. It was mad boring losing tons of games and not having my picks. So now we’re just having fun.
3- Can anyone Beat the LAC in the West this season?
In the West? I don’t think so. I can’t think of one team off the top of my head that matches up with them well enough to knock them out in a 7 game series. They’re barely losing solo games during the regular season- I don’t see them losing 4 of 7 in any playoff series unless it’s against one of the Eastern Conference juggernauts - and even then...
4- Whats your draft strategy now that there is no Scouts?
I compile a draft spreadsheet every offseason. The spreadsheet sorts all draftees by each category and assigns them a number value (1-100) for where they rank in each category. So the best outside shooter is ranked 1, the worst, 100. From here I assign weights based on team need and overall preference. For instance, during last draft, I really needed a big man with a strong defensive and glass presence. Unfortunately I didn’t have a 1st, so I also weighted pot a little more than I usually do. This is how I ended up with one of the higher pot bigs in the draft who is at least near fringe in D and Reb.
5- Who is your 1st 1/2 MVP? GMOTY? and ROY?
MVP I’m going with R.J. It’s close though. There’s a handful of players having absolutely spectacular season in regards to individual performance. R.J. is my pick though because the Bulls are tearing up everyone else - and he’s leading them.
GMOTY? Uhm, Daulten! Holy shit dude great job adding AD and Embiid. It’s been a long time since I saw a big man duo that is as dominant as these two. The Spurs are winning games despite AD being on IR for two sims now. Once he comes back I expect the Spurs to make a strong playoff push and Dault deserves some praise for that. His Zion trade was p lame but I mean, I take AD over Zion any day.
Lets get to know you
6- Who are you and what do you do?
Well, I suppose primarily I would be labeled as a student. I do work as well but the majority of my time is spent studying/in the gym/reading/etc. When I do work it is as a Medical Scribe at a number of Emergency Departments in the area. Basically I follow the ER Doctors around and scribe (record) the majority of their actions. For instance, if you were in the ER and you coded- the ER doc needs to focus 110% of his efforts on resuscitation. I record everything that occurs - from medicine administered, to the exact times, to the size of the tube he inserts into your neck or throat, etc. I’m a glorified historian but honestly it’s been really fulfilling work. I currently reside in the DFW (Texas) area and am in my “Junior” year of college. I’m double majoring in Biochemistry and Psychology with a minor in Neuroscience. My ultimate goal right now is to get accepted into an MD/PhD program at UT-Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. I’ll be taking the MCAT soon and begin applying to programs across the nation. Maybe one of y’all will get a new roommate .
7- There was a poll recentely about Steak, so lets take it a step further Bake potatoe, Au Gratin or mashed potatoes next to that steak? and what else on them Potatos?
Medium rare steak.
Dice up your potatoes- mix them with some bacon and onions. Season them up with whatever smells good. Throw it all in a cast iron pan on the grill with a tbsp (or a few) of butter. I don’t often eat like this anymore as it’s rather unhealthy if overdone, but when I do, I’ll absolutely demolish the steak and scoops upon scoops of these potatoes.
8- Favorite Team/s and Sport/s?
Favorite Sport - Football, bar none. I grew up in Wisconsin where it was Packers Packers Packers everywhere. So for me it’s still Packers Packers Packers.
Outside of Football I’m huge on basketball obviously- mostly the Bucks though. I don’t typically watch any other teams unless it’s late stage playoffs.
Other sports - not huge on. I’ll root for the hometown teams (Brewers, apparently a lot of Wisconsinites support the Blackhawks, etc).
9- Favorite go to restaurant on a night out? What is your go to dish there?
lol there’s this dumpster ass taco truck that parks in downtown Fort Worth during the weekends. Downtown Fort Worth is nothing but bars, clubs, and food. It’s a great place to hangout with friends and have a fun time. I don’t go out often because I’m not much of a drinker, but when I do - I love this damn taco truck. They make fresh (massive) grilled chicken burritos with homemade rice, guacamole, and whatever else Mexicans put in their burritos. It’s heaven. Similar to the steak thing tho- more of a guilty pleasure.
10- Is Donkey ready for the big City and the big Pressure? What advice would you give him?
He’s as ready as he’ll ever be. As far as I know he’s lived in relatively dense areas most of his life, no? More dense than “rural” that is. He’ll adjust fine. He’s a grown man now . It’s going to take him some time to truly settle in - it sounds like some pretty big changes are coming - but once he settles I think he’ll be fine with the “pressure.” Whoever hired him seems to believe in him, and I’m sure he believes in himself. There might be some trials in the coming weeks as it’s all “new,” but he’ll be okay.
