2036 1st Round Big Board:

At a first glance, it looks like the Cleveland Cavaliers are probably the big winners off the bat, securing Cameron Ridley at #4 and Rasheed Sulaimon at #11, it's obviously always nice when you can land two top 10 talents in any draft, so congratulations to GM Hokey on a job well done. The New York Knicks seem to have won the early award for biggest steal of the draft, by selecting A.J. English at #18 overall, props to GM Frank for the heads up play there. Biggest reaches of the night go to Portland, Utah, New Orleans, Houston and Boston, although obviously Portland's selection of Egidijus Mockevicius would be more negatively impactful being that it was the #6 overall pick, and the rest are mid to late first round picks. I personally don't feel like Portland's pick was a super reach, and neither does the CPU, but NC obviously despises it as he had him ranked 47th. I liked Utah's pick of Prince Ibeh, NC hated it, and so did the CPU. I hated New Orleans' selection of Pedro Barrel, as did the CPU, but NC liked it. Houston's auto pick of Sarunas Beniusas both NC and I hated, but the CPU loved, and then pretty much all 3 of us didn't like the Celtics pick of Dave Deutsch, though the CPU was more forgiving than us. So sort of interesting that on a few picks, scores were drastically altered by NC and I being pretty far apart on our evaluations, where as last year we saw Frank and I with minimal variance within our rankings, but that's why it's fun to rotate in someone new every year, just to get a fresh perspective.
2036 2nd Round Stand-Out(s):

Sort of a weak year for the 2nd round as Josh Hagins is the only player on all 3 big boards that we're in somewhat of an agreement on being great value in round 2. I guess NC and the CPU were pretty big fans of Jim Price at #44 overall, but I wasn't nuts about it. I will note that NC thinks his own pick at #40 of Winston Shepard netted him the 8th best player in the draft, though, neither I or the CPU see it that way, or even close to that. I'll give mini-shouts to Kaleb Tarczewski and Moussa Gueye, I had them graded as late firsts, I don't think they're major steals or anything but they went a little later than I had them graded out as, so that's about the nicest thing I have to say about this years 2nd round crop of talent. That's really all we've got here, we're way too far apart on anyone else of note.
