“A Bold New Era: 76ers Add Cavinder Twins, Clyde Drexler, and Travis Lavery in Ambitious Overhaul”

The Philadelphia 76ers made waves on draft night with a series of high-profile trades aimed at reshaping their roster. By acquiring Haley Cavinder (#10 pick) from Golden State and drafting Hanna Cavinder at #13, the 76ers reunited one of basketball’s most dynamic duos. The twins will now step onto the NBA stage together, marking a groundbreaking moment in league history.

Philadelphia also added a veteran presence in 36-year-old Clyde Drexler, a 7-time champion, whose leadership and clutch experience are seen as critical for the team's ambitions. Head Coach Caitlin Clark acknowledged Drexler’s unique challenge. “Clyde’s been to the mountaintop more than anyone, but this is a new chapter. He’s taking on the greatest challenge of his career: leading this squad of young stars.”

The 76ers' starting lineup is already generating buzz. Alongside Drexler and the Cavinder twins, Philadelphia plans to bring back towering center Zhang Ziyu (7’5”) in free agency and pair her with rebounding phenom Angel Reese. Zhang, a former All-Star, has been described as a cornerstone of the franchise.

While the moves show ambition, some critics have questioned the steep price the 76ers paid, including multiple first-round picks and swap rights. Travis Lavery was also brought in as part of the deal, though he’s widely viewed as a salary dump. Despite the criticism, the 76ers are banking on their revamped roster to deliver results and rewrite the narrative surrounding their team.
